Luxembourg: Activists plan protest against COVID-19 regulations in Luxembourg City Jan. 22
Activists to march from Glacis to Place de l'Europe in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, from 14:00 Jan. 22 to protest COVID-19 regulations.
Event
Activists plan to protest COVID-19 regulations in Luxembourg City Jan. 22. Participants will gather at the Glacis parking area from 14:00 and then march to Place de l'Europe, near the Philharmonie. The exact march route is unclear but protesters will likely march along Avenue John F. Kennedy. Participation is unclear; previous actions have numbered in the low hundreds.
Security forces will almost certainly deploy to monitor the gathering. Localized ground travel delays are likely near the protest. Although widespread violence is unlikely, confrontations between police and protesters are possible if demonstrators ignore police orders to disperse or if they are overly disruptive. Low-level violence occurred at a similar protest Jan. 15; police also arrested several dozen protesters.
Advice
Avoid the protest as a standard precaution. Plan for localized ground travel delays the afternoon of Jan. 22. Heed the directives of local officials.
