Japan: Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways cancel all Europe flights as of March 3

Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways cancel all flights to and from Europe as of March 3. Confirm flight reservations.

Warning

Event

Japan Airlines (JAL) and All Nippon Airways (ANA) have indefinitely canceled all flights to and from Europe as of March 3 due to safety concerns following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Reports indicate that ANA and JAL operate around 60 flights a week through Russian Airspace between Tokyo and destinations like London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Helsinki. Airline officials stated that they are monitoring the situation; it is unclear when flights will resume.

Passenger and cargo flight schedules from Europe for JAL and ANA will almost certainly be disrupted. Further such cancelations are likely in the coming days. Disruptions on additional carriers are also possible, while increased demand for alternative flights or modes of transport is also likely.

Advice

Confirm flights reservations. Consider booking alternative travel for time-sensitive trips. Allow extra time for check-in at airports. Plan for shipping and supply chain disruptions.
