Activists plan to hold demonstrations in multiple cities throughout Latin America March 8 to demand equal rights for women, as part of the commemoration of International Women's Day. Some of the largest confirmed events are the following:

  • Cancun, Mexico: March from Malecon Tamajar to City Hall, 17:00

  • Guadalajara, Mexico: March from Glorieta de los Desaparecidos to Plaza Imelda Virgen, 15:00

  • Mexico City, Mexico: March from Angel de la Independencia to Zocalo, 16:30

  • Monterrey, Mexico: Several marches arriving at Explanada de los Heroes, 17:00

  • Puebla, Mexico: March from Gallito del Paseo Bravo to Zocalo, 17:00

  • San Jose, Costa Rica: March from Parque Central, 16:00

Related demonstrations are also likely in multiple other cities across the region. The largest gatherings could draw tens of thousands of participants. Heightened security and disruptions to transport and business are likely around all related demonstrations. Clashes between demonstrators and police cannot be ruled out.
