Bombing kills two soldiers and injures four near Mopti, Mopti Region, Mali, March 7.

Two United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) soldiers were killed, and four were injured during an explosion north of Mopti, Mopti Region, March 7. The explosion was almost certainly due to a bomb planted by militants.
Context
Insecurity is prevalent across much of Mali. Islamist militants or affiliated groups conduct attacks regularly. Despite continued security operations, armed groups continue to demonstrate a capability to attack civilians and security forces. The security situation is further undermined by local rivalries, sporadic communal violence, and banditry.
