Event
Unidentified militants launched armed attacks on military facilities in Bapho, Niono, and Sevare in Segou and Mopti regions, respectively. The attack began at around 05:00, the morning of April 24. It is unclear if the incident has caused casualties.

Context
Insecurity is prevalent across much of Mali. Islamist militants or affiliated groups pose a significant threat. Despite continued security operations, armed groups continue to demonstrate a capability to attack civilians and security forces. The security situation is further undermined by local rivalries, sporadic communal violence, and banditry. The tri-border area between Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso is particularly insecure, with mass-casualty attacks perpetrated by suspected Islamist militants reported regularly.
