Warning

Event

Officials in Chongqing are imposing tighter curbs in parts of the city as of Aug. 19 due to COVID-19 activity. Temporary control measures are in effect in the eastern part of Shaqingba District; non-essential movement and social gatherings are prohibited. Residents in the affected area must remain in their communities and undergo mass testing. Public transport and private vehicles are suspended, while nonessential businesses must close. Authorities will likely enact checkpoints to ensure compliance with the measures.

Officials could extend or impose further restrictions if new COVID-19 cases emerge. The government could place additional localities in Chongqing, especially adjacent communities, under localized movement controls if more COVID-19 cases emerge. Other provincial and municipal governments may require testing and/or quarantine for travelers from the affected areas of Chongqing. Further COVID-19 activity could prompt business closures and disruption to production operations in Chongqing's industrial areas, as well as flight cancellations and delays at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG).

Advice

Strictly heed the instructions of authorities. Confirm appointments and transport arrangements. Remain cooperative if approached and questioned by law enforcement officers.
