Critical

Event

Officials in Heilongjiang Province are imposing tighter curbs in Daqing as of Aug. 29 due to COVID-19 activity. Stay-home measures are in place in the main urban areas of the city, including the High-tech Zone, Longfeng, Ranghulu, and Sartu districts through at least Sept. 4. Residents must work from home, while nonessential businesses and public transport are suspended. At most one person per household may leave once every two days to purchase essential items. Individuals that need to leave Daqing must hold a nucleic acid test certificate taken within 24 hours and a green health code. Officials will likely carry out several rounds of testing in the affected locations before easing restrictions. Authorities could extend the measures if new COVID-19 cases emerge.

Additional measures are possible in other parts of Daqing and Heilongjiang Province if there are new COVID-19 cases. Strict controls, such as stay-at-home orders and closure of nonessential businesses, are possible. Officials could launch testing operations in other areas of Heilongjiang Province. Business operation and supply chain disruptions are possible in industrial areas affected by localized restrictions.

Daqing is approximately 140 km (86 miles) northwest of Harbin.
