Activists affiliated with the anti-government Coalition of Progressive Forces in Northern Ghana (COP-Northern Ghana) will gather in Tamale, Northern Region, Sept. 3. Demonstrators are protesting a number of grievances, including misgovernance, the elevated cost of living, and security conditions. The exact time and locations for the protest remain unclear as of Aug. 23. It remains unclear if officials have granted authorization for the event.

Heightened security and localized traffic disruptions are likely around the protest site. Given the anti-government nature of the protest, clashes between demonstrators and security forces are possible.
