Emergency crews are responding to a chlorine gas leak on Tarahumaras Street in the Francisco Villa area of Culiacan, Sinaloa State, late Aug. 30. In the earlier evening, authorities detected a leak from a storage tank in an industrial shop. At least one person has died, and 11 others are being treated for gas exposure. Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area.

The emergency response and related security measures will probably continue near the incident site over the coming hours. Localized business and transport disruptions are likely in the area until crews can contain the leak and investigate the incident.
