Employees affiliated with telecommunication union striking indefinitely across Ghana as of Sept. 5. Related protests, disruptions possible.
Event
Employees affiliated with the Telecom and IT Professionals Union (TIP) have embarked on an indefinite nationwide strike Sept. 5 over poor working and salary conditions.
Related protests remain possible nationwide, notably in Accra and Kumasi, near MTN, Vodafone, and AirtelTigo telecom offices. Heightened security and localized traffic disruptions are likely in the vicinity of all protests. Clashes with security forces cannot be ruled out. In addition, the work stoppage may cause some telecommunication disruptions, particularly if the action is protracted.
Advice
Avoid all protests to mitigate associated disruptions. Heed the instructions of local authorities. Depart the area at the first sign of a confrontation. Plan for telecommunication disruptions.
