Rebels shot small arms at a Myanmar National Airlines (UB) passenger plane that was attempting to land at Loikaw Airport (LIW) in Kayah State at around 09:35 Sept. 30. Reports indicate that the plane came under fire at a height of around 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) and 6 km (3.7 miles) north of LIW. The plane was traveling from Naypyidaw to Loikaw with 63 passengers on board. Military officials confirmed that the incident injured at least one passenger. No group has claimed responsibility for the shooting.
