Activists affiliated with the Inter-Trade Union of Plenary of Workers-National Workers Convention (Plenario Intersindical de Trabajadores-Convencion Nacional de Trabajadores, PIT-CNT) plan to hold a nationwide 4-hour strike Nov. 15 to oppose a social security reform recently introduced by the national government. The strike will run between 09:00-13:00.

Demonstrators also plan to hold a march in Montevideo starting at 09:00: they plan to gather at the Explanada of the Universidad de la Republica and, from there, march to the Legislative Palace.

The strike is likely to cause business disruptions nationwide, with higher-than-usual absenteeism of workers between 09:00-13:00. Transport disruptions and heightened security are likely near the march route in Montevideo.
