Officials in Costa Rica to implement COVID-19-related regulations for travelers from China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, from Jan. 9.

Officials have announced new COVID-19-related regulations, effective Jan. 9, for foreign nationals arriving from or who have traveled to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau in the past 14 days. Travelers will be required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR-RT or antigen test obtained at least 72 hours before entering the country. Documentation must be provided in Spanish or English. All persons over the age of 12 will also require a full vaccination certificate. Costa Ricans arriving from the areas mentioned above are advised to self-isolate for seven days upon arrival.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
