India: Several casualties after blast and fire at a factory in Nashik District, Jan. 1

An explosion and fire occurred at a chemical factory in the vicinity of Mundegaon, Nashik District, Maharashtra State, Jan. 1. The incident was sparked by the explosion of a boiler. It is not clear what sparked the blast. At least two people have been killed and 14 injured. The casualty numbers may be adjusted over the coming hours as the emergency response continues.
