The Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha (BJYM, or Indian People's Youth Front), the youth wing of the ruling BJP, plans to protest by surrounding (gherao) the Odisha Legislative Assembly building in Bhubaneswar Feb. 28. Organizers seek to demand the completion of a murder investigation involving a former state legislative assembly member. If well attended, the demonstration could attract up to thousands of participants.

Authorities will almost certainly monitor the gathering and may attempt to disperse the demonstration if it is especially disruptive. Clashes between police and activists cannot be ruled out. Demonstrators may march along or block nearby roadways, prompting localized transport disruptions. Localized business disruptions may also occur through the evening of Feb. 28.
