Honduras: Pro-government demonstrations planned in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula July 18

Activists affiliated with the ruling Freedom and Refounding Party (Partido Libertad y Refundacion, LIBRE) plan to march in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula on July 18. The purpose of the actions is to support the national government's policies, including the country's joining the Development Bank of Latin America.
Demonstrators will gather at the La Guadalupe neighborhood bridge in Tegucigalpa, and in front of the Monumento a la Madre in San Pedro Sula. Both protests will start at 17:00; organizers have as yet announced no details concerning the march routes or end points.
The two events will probably draw large numbers of participants. Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely. Counterprotests by anti-government groups or political opposition parties cannot be ruled out.

Avoid all protests as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula starting in the mid-afternoon of July 18.
