Activists affiliated with the Citizen Opposition Bloc, comprising of opposition political parties, plan to stage a protest march from Boulevard Suyapa in Tegucigalpa starting at 08:30 Aug. 19. The protesters are demanding that the government create more jobs and provide better healthcare services, among others. The protest could be well-attended.
Increased security, as well as localized transport and business disruptions, are likely at and around Boulevard Suyapa. Although the action should be largely peaceful, clashes are possible, especially if police attempt to disperse protesters forcibly.
