Nigeria: Labor groups suspend indefinite nationwide strike as of late Nov. 15 /update 2

Labor groups call off indefinite work stoppage across Nigeria as late Nov. 15. Residual disruptions possible.

Informational

Activists affiliated with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) called off a nationwide strike late Nov. 15 following a meeting with National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. The labor action, which began Nov. 14, was to denounce an alleged attack on NLC leader Joe Ajaero Nov. 1 in Owerri, Imo State.

Residual disruptions to transport, government services, business operations, healthcare services, and other sectors are possible over the coming hours. Calls for fresh strikes may occur in the coming weeks if authorities fail to adequately address the unions' demands.
