Unionized truck drivers will lead demonstrations in central Berlin, Jan. 18-19. Participants will form convoys and converge on the city. The Federal Association of Logistics and Transport pro (BLV) union plans for participating vehicles to park on Strasse des 17. Juni on Jan. 18, and for a rally in front of Brandenburg Gate from 12:00 Jan. 19. The action is to denounce government reforms including increases in fuel duty and toll prices. The event follows similar large-scale farmers' vehicle protests in Berlin, including on Jan. 15; several hundred vehicles will likely take part.

Heightened security is likely near all demonstrations. Transport disruptions will likely occur throughout the days in areas targeted by the protesters. The protest event in Berlin on Jan. 18-19 will likely result in significant disruptions in the vicinity of the Brandenburg Gate and Strasse des 17. Juni.

Avoid the demonstration areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near a protest or on major roadways into affected cities. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
