Emergency crews are continuing their response to an explosion at the Sandman Signature Hotel at 810 Houston Street in Fort Worth, Texas, Jan. 8. The blast occurred at approximately 15:30, blowing out at least two floors of the hotel. Firefighters have stated that the incident was likely a natural gas explosion. Emergency services reported receiving calls regarding gas odor immediately before the incident; however, authorities are still assessing the situation. Updated reports indicate at least 21 injuries; crews also located a person who was reported missing.

Increased security and localized business and transport disruptions are almost certain in the coming hours as emergency response and investigations continue. Debris from the explosion is on the surrounding streets. Police have cordoned off the area and asked the public to maintain a two-block radius from the incident site. Clean-up operations could prompt lingering disruptions over the coming days.
