Authorities will likely maintain an increased security presence after suspected bomb explosions in the Cho Airong and Sukhirin districts of Narathiwat Province on May 20. The first explosion occurred at approximately 07:20 while a security team patrolled near the Tambon Chuab’s security protection base in Cho Airong District. Gunfire followed the blast. A second explosion occurred around approximately 08:10 near the Kia Tambon Health Promotion Hospital in Sukhirin District. Initial reports indicate at least one fatality and 13 others injured during the violence.

Officials will likely maintain checkpoints and roadblocks in Narathiwat. Further explosions cannot be ruled out. Localized transport disruptions are likely, while business disruptions are possible in the affected areas.
