Informational

Political activists plan to protest at the Place de la Nation in Paris from 15:00 July 14. Participants, led by the left-wing group "Marche des Solidarites," will denounce France's right-wing politics and colonial past. The event will take place concurrently with France's Bastille Day and the passage of the Olympic Flame, which will reach Place de la Bastille at 17:00. Place de la Nations lies 2.2 km (1.3 miles) east of Place de la Bastille. Several dozen organizations will reportedly join the event; several thousand participants are likely to attend.

Authorities will likely deploy increased security to monitor the gathering; road travel and transport disruptions are likely near the protest site through July 14. Confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be excluded.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time for travel near central Paris and through the event location on July 14. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
