Unionized airport personnel to strike at Bologna, Cagliari, and Milan airports, Italy, 13:00-17:00 July 21; air travel disruptions likely.
Unionized airport staff plan to stage strikes at Milan Bergamo/Orio al Serio International (BGY), Cagliari Elmas (CAG), and Bologna Guglielmo Marconi (BLQ) airports from 13:00 to 17:00 on July 21. The purpose of the labor actions is to demand improved working conditions. The following personnel at each airport listed below will reportedly participate in the strikes:
BGY: AGS Handling staff and air traffic control (ATC) staff employed by ENAV, Italy's ATC operating company.
BLQ: Ground handling staff employed by Aviapartner.
CAG: Airport staff employed by Sogaer, manager of CAG.
Air travel disruptions will likely affect the airports listed above immediately before, during, and after the strike period. Additionally, related disruptions will probably affect Milan Linate Airport (LIN) and may affect Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP).
The labor actions may also cause passenger processing delays, among other disruptions. Striking workers may participate in picket protests; heightened security and localized ground transport disruptions are likely near any demonstrations that materialize.
Allow additional time for passenger processing and air travel via the affected airports. Avoid any demonstrations that materialize as a standard precaution. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
