Activists plan to protest in central Adana, Ankara, and Antalya the evening of July 30. The purpose of the demonstrations is to denounce a proposed law that would allow the culling of street animals nationwide. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend; however, large crowds have previously participated in related demonstrations. Police have previously arrested participants in related protests in Ankara. The following demonstrations are planned:
Adana: Ataturk Park 18:30-19:30.
Ankara: Kugulu Park evening (no specific time given.)
Ankara: Sakarya Caddesi 18:30-19:30.
Antalya: Attalos Meydani from 19:45.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest sites. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out. Tram disruptions are possible near the Antalya protest.
Avoid the protest areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near any protest sites, including by public transport. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
