Turkiye: Forest fire prompts temporary closure of Izmir's Adnan Menderes Airport July 18
Forest fire causing flight disruptions at Adnan Menderes Airport in Izmir, Turkiye, July 18. Reconfirm flight schedules.
A forest fire that broke out in Gaziemir township on the southern outskirts of Izmir forced the temporary closure of the city's Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) on July 18. ADB continues to report numerous flight cancellations and delays, with some scheduled arrivals having been diverted to other facilities. It remains unclear when the airport will resume normal operations.
Flight disruptions will likely continue for several hours after ADB reopens as carriers reposition aircraft and work through their passenger backlogs.
Reconfirm flight status if booked to travel via ADB through at least the end of July 18. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider alternative arrangements for critical travel.
