Authorities are continuing their response to a shooting that took place at a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pa., during the early evening of July 13. The incident occurred when an unidentified individual opened fire during the event. Trump, who was addressing rally attendees when the shooting began, reportedly received a minor gunshot injury and was bleeding from his ear at the time he was rushed off stage by security agents; campaign officials have since stated, however, that he is in good health and being treated at a local medical center. Secret Service sources subsequently confirmed that the former president is safe.

According to authorities, at least one bystander and possibly two were killed in the incident; law enforcement officers also shot and killed the suspected gunman.

A major security operation is underway with associated transport and business disruptions in the vicinity of the rally venue - Butler Farm Show located at 625 Evans City Road. An extremely tight security presence will almost certainly remain deployed in the area into the early hours of July 14.

Avoid the scene of the incident. Strictly heed the instructions of authorities.
