Crews responding to large structure fire Beysan Industrial Park in Istanbul, Turkiye, late Aug. 1. Tight security, disruptions likely.
Firefighters are responding to a major structure fire at the Beysan Industrial Park in Istanbul's Avcilar district as of late Aug. 1. The fire, which began in a factory at about 22:00, is reportedly producing significant amounts of thick smoke in the area. The cause of the blaze remains unclear. There are no immediate reports of casualties. Large numbers of police and emergency medical personnel have also deployed to the scene.
Authorities will almost certainly maintain a heightened security presence in the affected area until the fire has been completely extinguished. Transport and business disruptions will probably affect the vicinity of the incident site well into the early hours of Aug. 2.
Avoid the area until authorities give the all-clear. Seek alternative routes and allow additional time for travel near the scene of the fire. Follow all instructions from security personnel, including any evacuation orders. Consider remaining indoors to avoid smoke exposure, especially if you suffer from a respiratory illness such as asthma, or conditions that lead to increased risk from smoke exposure. Eye irritation is possible; flush irritated eyes with copious amounts of clean water.
