Warning

As of late Aug. 5, demonstrators are clashing with police in Belfast and have reportedly thrown Molotov Cocktails and burned a police car near the intersection of Sandy Row and Donegall Road. Authorities have deployed heavily to the area to dispel the protesters and advise the public to avoid the area.

Sporadic clashes will likely continue through early Aug. 6; confrontations could abate in some locations before restarting elsewhere in the city. Heightened security deployments and transport disruptions will almost certainly extend through the afternoon of Aug. 6. Significant business disruptions are likely near the impacted area.

Strictly avoid all demonstrations. Allow additional time for traveling in Belfast. Heed all instructions from authorities. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.

If you are in an area impacted by smoke from protest-related fires, consider remaining indoors to avoid exposure, especially if you suffer from a respiratory illness such as asthma or conditions that lead to increased risk from smoke exposure. Eye irritation is possible; flush irritated eyes with copious amounts of clean water.
