Authorities are continuing to respond to a brush fire in the Gila River Indian Community, near Phoenix, Arizona, as of Sept. 29. The blaze, termed the "Fall Fire," reportedly ignited between Santa Cruz and Cemetery roads in the community's District 6 on the afternoon of Sept. 28. As of the morning of Sept. 29, the fire was 0 percent contained and had burned some 272 hectares (671 acres). The blaze has also affected several power lines in the area and emitted a large plume of smoke. Authorities have evacuated residents from the affected area and instructed other individuals to avoid the vicinity. Officials did not immediately confirm the cause of the blaze or any associated casualties or structural damage. There were no immediate reports of traffic disruptions on nearby Arizona State Route (Loop) 202.

Electricity disruptions may affect areas served by power lines damaged in the fire. Smoke from the fire may noticeably worsen air quality in the surrounding area. Heightened security and localized disruptions to traffic and business will likely affect the vicinity of the Gila River Indian Community until firefighters extinguish the blaze and vacate the scene.
