The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a tornado warning for parts of Roanoke City, as well as Roanoke and Franklin counties in southern Virginia on Sept. 27. The warning is in effect until at least 17:00, and areas under the warning include southern areas of Roanoke, and Cave Spring. The tornado warning could be extended or expanded on short notice.

This is a developing situation; additional information will be issued as warranted.

Seek shelter immediately in areas covered by the warning. Be prepared to quickly move to a safe location if new warnings are issued. Postpone driving until weather conditions improve.
