France: Pensioners' campaign groups to protest nationwide Dec. 3

Pensioners' campaign groups plan to stage protests across France Dec. 3. Localized disruptions likely.

Informational

Pensioners' campaign groups plan demonstrations in major cities nationwide on Dec. 3. Nine separate labor unions and pensioners' associations will stage a national day of action, to demand increased pension payments. Participation numbers remain unclear, however it is likely that larger events in Paris and other major centers will attract thousands of participants. As of Nov. 29, the location for the Paris demonstration is not confirmed. Rallies across France are most likely to take place in central squares and outside government buildings.

Authorities will likely deploy increased security to monitor the protests. Heightened security, road closures, and increased congestion may prompt transport disruptions near demonstration sites. The protests will likely pass off peacefully.

As a standard precaution, avoid all protests. Allow additional time if traveling near protest sites. Strictly heed all instructions from authorities.
