Indian National Congress party to hold rallies across Kerala State, India, Nov. 30-Dec. 1. Increased security, localized disruptions likely.
The Indian National Congress (INC) party will stage a series of public gatherings and receptions in several locations across Kerala State Nov. 30-Dec. 1. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the election of INC candidate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to India's lower house of Parliament (Lok Sabha). Prominent members of the party will take part in the tour. Gandhi will arrive at Calicut International Airport (CCJ) at 11:00 Nov. 30 before attending events in Mukkam, Karulai, Wandoor, and Edavanna. On Dec. 1, gatherings will take place at Mananthavady, Sultan Bathery, and Kalpetta. The events could draw several thousand participants.
Authorities will almost certainly maintain an increased security presence and monitor all of the gatherings a precaution. Officials could implement enhanced restrictions, including temporary road block, to facilitate the events. Isolated clashes between activists and police, or among members of opposing groups, cannot be ruled out. Associated localized transport and business disruptions are likely, especially near main roads.
