South Korea: Anti-government activists to rally in downtown Seoul Nov. 30
Anti-government activists plan to rally in downtown Seoul, South Korea, afternoon of Nov. 30. Tight security, traffic disruptions likely.
Anti-government activists plan to stage demonstrations in Seoul's Jung and Jongno districts Nov. 30 to demand President Yoon Suk Yeol's resignation. Participants will gather at Sajik-ro and Sejong-daero in the afternoon before marching through Namdaemun-ro and Toegye-ro. Protesters will then hold a rally along Sajik-ro in front of Gwanghwamun Gate from 17:30. Organizers claim that around 12,000 people will attend the event.
Authorities will probably increase security and impose traffic restrictions, mainly along roads such as Namdaemun-ro, Sajik-ro, Sejong-daero, and Toegye-ro. Localized transport disruptions are likely, especially if activists block roads. While the event will likely remain peaceful, clashes between protesters and police cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the protests as a precaution. Leave the area at the first sign of security disturbance. Confirm road status and transport reservations, especially in downtown Seoul. Allow additional time for travel; use alternative routes to circumvent rally sites. Heed all local security and traffic advisories.
