Unionized workers are marching through central Thessaloniki as of the evening of Dec. 12. The demonstration is to denounce the government's planned 2025 budget. Participants initially gathered at the Statue of Eleftherios Venizelos on Egnatia. It was not immediately clear what route the procession would take.
Police will likely deploy along the march route to facilitate the demonstration. The procession will likely disrupt vehicular transport and low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers, frustrated motorists, or opposed individuals cannot be ruled out.
