Power outage affecting rail services between Kitahiroshima and New Chitose Airport stations in Chitose, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan, Dec. 9.
A power outage has led to the suspension of rail services between Kitahiroshima and New Chitose Airport stations on the JR Chitose Line in Chitose, Hokkaido Prefecture, the afternoon of Dec. 9. Around 19 train services are canceled, including 17 rapid airport trains and two local trains. Reports indicate long lines for bus services to New Chitose Airport (CTS) around Sapporo Station due to the suspension. It remains unclear when services will normalize; the suspension could continue for several hours.
Rail disruptions will likely continue until clearance and repair operations conclude. Increased demand for other forms of transport is probable, especially between Sapporo and New Chitose Airport (CTS).
Confirm rail schedules. Use alternative transport for time-sensitive travel, especially between Sapporo and CTS.
