Spain: Activists groups to demonstrate in Seville on Dec. 10
Activist groups to demonstrate in central Seville, Spain, from 18:00 Dec. 10. Heightened security, localized transport disruptions likely.
Activist groups plan two separate demonstrations in central Seville on Dec. 10 to commemorate International Human Rights Day, and demand strengthened government action to protect human rights in Spain. One group plans to rally at Plaza Nueva from 18:00, and a second group plans to gather at Plaza Nueva from 19:00 before marching to the Setas de Sevilla landmark in Plaza de la Encarnacion. The march route and number of participants are unclear.
Police will likely deploy near all protest sites to facilitate gatherings. The procession will likely disrupt vehicular traffic, and low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers, frustrated motorists, or others cannot be ruled out.
Avoid affected areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near or between Plaza Nueva and Plaza de la Encarnacion. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
