Unionized public sector employees plan to demonstrate in Madrid from 12:30on Dec. 14. Members of the CSIF labor union will gather at the headquarters of Muface, the public sector mutual association, to defend the existing healthcare model. The event follows a similar gathering Dec. 11 by members of the CCOO, UGT, ANPE, Adide, USIE, UFP, SUP, Acaip, and SIAT unions. Organizers estimate several thousand government employees will take part in the protest.

Authorities will likely deploy additional police to monitor and facilitate the demonstration. Increased security, road closures, and pedestrian congestion may prompt localized disruptions. The protest will likely pass off peacefully.
