UK: Unionized rail workers suspend nationwide strikes planned for Dec. 22-23 /update 1
Rail workers' strikes planned across the UK Dec. 22-23 suspended.
Unionized train managers employed by the Avanti West Coast train operator suspended strikes planned for Dec. 22-23 to demand improved working conditions and higher salaries. The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) announced on Dec. 13 that it received a revised offer from the Avanti West Coast, which train managers will vote on in a referendum that ends on Dec. 17. The RMT strike planned for Dec. 29 has also been suspended.
