Luxembourg's political situation is highly stable. The most prominent threat to travelers is from criminal activity, with petty theft including pick-pocketing and purse-snatching occurring. The terrorism threat is considered low, although the country houses several important European institutions that could be targeted for attack. Protest activity is typically low-level and peaceful, often occurring in the vicinity of EU-buildings or around the time of high profile conferences and events. Luxembourg has a well-developed, high-income, stable economy, making it a favorable environment for foreign investment. The economy is driven by the steel, banking, insurance and telecommunications industries and relies heavily on cross border workers. Infrastructure in Luxembourg is of excellent quality. Road conditions and driving habits are good, although more rural roads linking towns and villages may have poor lighting.

The Mertert river port is the only trimodal platform in Luxembourg and is efficient.

Luxembourg enjoys a temperate climate without extremes. Earthquakes are infrequent and relatively low-magnitude. Flooding may occur along rivers and basins, particularly from May to June and again from November to December.

Travelers' diarrhea is the most common ailment among travelers to Luxembourg. Medical care is of excellent quality. Pharmacies are prevalent and most ordinary prescription drugs are widely available. Tap water is safe to drink.

General elections are scheduled to be held in Luxembourg by Oct. 2023. Luxembourg is a parliamentary representative democratic monarchy. Following the 2018 elections the centrist coalition government comprising of the Democratic Party (DP), the Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP) and the Greens was re-elected into power. Xavier Bettel (DP) was also re-elected as Prime Minister. Luxembourg is ranked as the second politically stable country in the world.
