Malta is a small Mediterranean island nation situated between Europe and North Africa. It is a popular tourist destination for travelers from Europe, Africa, and Asia due to its warm weather, beaches and historic sites. However recent allegations of high-level corruption have caused a degree of political friction.

There are no known security threats that could negatively affect travel and operations in Malta. Crime levels are very low. However, petty criminals including pickpockets and bag-snatchers may target tourist establishments, bars, restaurants and nightclubs.
