Morocco: Teachers plan multiple strikes March 13-28 /update 1
Teachers’ union announces nationwide strikes March 13-14 and March 26-28; associated protests planned

The National Federation of Teachers (FNE) and the Democratic Labor Organization (ODT) announced that a new series of nationwide strikes will be held in March. Unions are planning to strike from Wednesday, March 13, through Thursday, March 14, as well as from Tuesday, March 26, through Thursday, March 28. A sit-in protest is also planned for Sunday, March 17, outside the Ministry of National Education in Rabat, starting at 10:00 (local time). According to media reports, regional and provincial union offices will also plan associated protest actions during the strikes. Heightened security measures and localized traffic disruptions are expected around all demonstrations.
Context
Teachers are calling for the government to integrate teachers into the public service and the payment of salaries for educators who have been contracted by the government, among other demands.
