Ecuadorians have called for nationwide strike to oppose President Moreno’s government July 15-19; avoid all protests

Ecuador's National Campesino Movement (Fecaol) and workers' unions began a nationwide anti-government strike on Monday, July 15, and will last through Friday, July 19. The strike is called to protest President Lenin Moreno's policies, lack of protection for farmers, as well as other grievances.
Local reports indicate that the number and intensity of protests and disruptions are expected to increase on Tuesday, July 16.
Protests and marches are scheduled in Guayaquil, Cuenca, and Quito, though protests should be expected in the next several days in other major urban centers across Ecuador.
A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected near all gatherings.
