The North Korean military reportedly fired two unidentified projectiles into the Sea of Japan on the morning (local time) of Friday, August 16. According to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, the projectiles were launched off the east coast of Gangwon-do province. Details are still emerging.

Similar North Korean launches are possible over the coming days.  

Context

North Korea has conducted at least five missile tests since July 25.
