Unidentified gunmen killed six people and wounded seven others in an ambush near Tanzania's southern border with Mozambique on Wednesday, November 13. Government officials said the assailants entered the country from Mozambique's Cabo Delgado province, where militants with links to Islamist groups are known to operate. Security forces have launched a search operation for the attackers. Since 2017, more than 100 people have been killed in similar incidents in the border region.
Similar attacks are possible in southern Tanzania over the near term.
