Clashes between protesters and security forces have been reported in the western Awoshie area of Greater Accra on Tuesday, August 4. The demonstration is being held to protest against faulty traffic lights in the area that have reportedly contributed to multiple fatal road traffic collisions in recent months. Security forces have reportedly used live ammunition and water cannon in an attempt to disperse the protesters blocking the Anyaa - Awoshie road. A heightened security presence remains in the area.
