Mexico: Tropical Storm Julio forms off southwestern coast September 5

Tropical Storm Julio formed on Saturday, September 5, and is expected to remain offshore until it is forecast to dissipate on Tuesday, September 8. The storm formed off the southeastern coast of Mexico, around 265 km (165 mi) south of the city of Manzanillo (Colima state) and is expected to move west-northwest parallel to the coast at 28 kph (17 mph). While the storm can sustain winds of around 65 kph (40 mph), it is predicted to stay offshore and lose strength.

Associated transportation, business, and power disruptions are possible in the near term.
