Mexican authorities announced on Friday, September 18, that 64 municipalities in Veracruz state have been affected by floods due to heavy rainfall since the beginning of the month. The municipalities affected have experienced coastal erosion, river overflows, and mudslides, largely attributed to tropical weather systems in the area.   

Further rainfall is expected over the near term. Disruption to transportation, business, and utilities is likely.
