The Union of Kanak and Exploited Workers (USTKE) has called for a general strike and demonstrations on Friday, October 30, to oppose the planned sale of the VALE nickel plant. The industrial action will take place over 24 hours on Friday. Although it is currently unclear where the demonstrations will take place, previous rallies regarding the issue have been held in Noumea in the vicinity of the company's office there and the French High Commission.
