The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) plans to hold a march from Lillian Ngoyi Stadium to the Charlie 1 gate of the Sasol Secunda facility in Secunda, Mpumalanga Province, May 1. Participants plan to gather at the stadium at 11:00 before marching along Kiewiet and PDP Kruger streets to the Charlie 1 gate. Police will divert vehicles from the procession route. The reason for the procession is unclear. Dozens to a few hundred people may participate.
Security personnel will almost certainly monitor the procession and may try to break up the march if it is especially disruptive. Clashes between protesters and police are possible. Localized transport disruptions are likely, especially along Kiewiet and PD Kruger streets.
