Disruptions are likely to continue through at least May 6 in the Tlahuac borough of Mexico City, following the collapse of a bridge carrying a train on Line 12 at Olivos Metro station late May 3. Authorities have confirmed 23 fatalities and 65 people hospitalized due to the incident, which occurred along Avenida Tlahuac, near the intersection with Providencia, in southeast Mexico City.
Crews are continuing their work in the area, removing debris and searching for potential additional casualties. Officials have closed Line 12 of the city's Metro, as well as the Avenida Tlahuac, including intersections with Ermita, Taxquena, Puente del Toro, Eje 3 Oriente, Periferico, Las Torres, Paso del Consejo, Buena Suerte, Porvenir, and Gallo de Oro. There will also be road closures at the intersections of La Virgen and Santa Ana, Canal de Chalco and Periferico, Las Torres and Canal de Chalco, and Santa Ana and Eje 3 Oriente.
Authorities will likely maintain heightened security in the area in the coming hours. Business disruptions throughout the affected area are also likely.
